Happy Love Day

get a room

Happy Valentine's Day 2009!!

I hope you felt loved, but if Roy did well do not tell me about it. If you missed me a lot then you may copy and paste the following into the comments section:
I hated Valentine's Day K because I couldn't bear to spend the day without you. I miss you very much and I wish you were my Valentine instead of stupid Roy. I am madly in love with you and only you forever. Amen.

Maybe I should take my christmas tree down now.

Bad month good smell

clean linen
Best air freshener: Glade clean linen air infusions. It smells like fresh laundry, nice!
I think today I'll go to the running store after my haircut, it's time for new shoes. Also I have to really do laundry.

CNN Newsroom added to my boycott list

Apparently none of the people on CNN Newsroom (TJ Holmes, Betty Nugyeun, and especially Fredricka Whitfield retard) know the difference betwen astronomy and astrology, you should have seen me leap off the couch and scream at the television I would have made them cry if they heard me. CNN you suck. I will no longer watch your news programs, you are boycotted.

Lost hurts my brain

1) First of all nobody cares bout the Superbowl commercials, they are overhyped and not that funny and definitely not that great so I'd appreciate no blurbs about them on my news programs, thanks, and also no articles about it in the paper kgreat.
2) Also nobody cares that Jessica Simpson is supposedly fat.
3) Also on American Idol I don't care about the heart-wrenching story portion of the show. That should be FFWD'd through, next time omit it please and get to the freaks.
4) Paula Abdul is still hot.

Literally dumping piles of dirt

snow

I woke up last weekend to a snowy day before anyone had walked on it and ruined it, beautiful! I went outside and breathed in the air, crisp and fresh and not too cold, and a peaceful stillness and silence. I went in to get my camera, there were some nice shots around the neighborhood, huge icicles and snow in the trees etc. Five minutes I was in the house, came back out and the plows were everywhere going crazy, spraying dirt and funk, no pictures for me. Above is a shot of my poor baby covered in snow as usual. Last night we got a foot, it took me a half hour to dig her out this morning. I don't know why people live here by choice.
I'm feeling a little overextended, too much to do. I had no idea that today was Thursday, the whole week's a blur. I need a massage and a jacuzzi with a flat screen tv mounted above.

Snowed In

I finally had it with that damn book, got mad and threw it against the wall and then in the garbage can where it belongs. There's a perfectly good Reacher book on my shelf, it's been waiting patiently.
Temperature was well below zero up here for the last week or so, today maybe not so cold but about a foot of snow so far and still going strong. The plow man just came through so I dug out my car and moved it out of his way, thought I'd head down to the store while I waited for him to plow my spot. I thought I could make it but no. Turned around, had to get a guy to push my car up the hill on the way back home. It's okay, I just needed food and drinks. I'll have water. At least there's no work tomorrow.

The Crucial Cheese

Some poeple would ridicule me mercilessly because I used measuring spoons and measuring cups for everything but in my defense this was my first time and I didn't want to f it away. Also I used every one of the possible cheeses mentioned in the recipe because I didn't want to skip the one that would turn out to be the crucial cheese.
Lessons learned:
1) Mozzerella is impossible to grate.
2) Buy a real saucepan.
3) Save more cheese for the top.
It's still in the oven. My only baking dish is too small I think (8x8), but I had one of those foil cake pans left over from christmas (8x14) so I used that. Hope it works? I'll take a picture if I can get it out of the oven without the pan collapsing all over the kitchen.

done

Ha! It doesn't look right. Too much mozzerella, not enough browning, not bubbly at all. It's still going to be delicious but I need help next time.

Rules and Regulations

There is a thing I do which makes no sense. (!) If I start reading a book and it turns out to be bad, I will force myself to finish reading it before I start another one. I'm not allowed to stop reading, I will suffer and complain silently and pick it apart and curse the author but I will follow through. I know I'm getting nothing out of it but I don't want to waste the book. Also I'm hoping for redemption, maybe there is a little part which I'll find very good and worthwhile but in the case of the book I'm reading now I'm sure there is no such part.
Other things I do:
-At night I arrange my items in a row for the next morning. Keys, ID, smokes, lighter, phone, in that order. And I say those words. "Keys, ID, smokes, lighter, phone."
-If I am in bed and I suspect that I left the stove on I will get out of bed and check the stove. This would be normal, except that it is never on and I check it routinely.
-When I get home from work and I want to relax, I am not allowed to do it until every task which needs to be done that day has been taken care of. Sometimes I am really tired and I think I'll let some business slide until later, but if I try this I am unable to sit still or relax and I am forced to get up and do whatever work it is, even if it is a tiny little thing.
-If my carpet needs vacuuming I will do it instantly.
-I keep bags of chips in the fridge after I open them because I think bugs will crawl in. (There are no bugs here.)

Sunshine state

I understand that it's cold in Maine, I get that. Fine. But why is there so much snow? Disproportionate precipitation. It does not rain every day during the summer, so why snow every day in winter?
Every day, I tell you.
My car wash bills are very high, last night's wash lasted less than twelve hours and now my poor baby is covered in salt again. Also, why do I watch the weather report on tv? Clearly useless.

Happy New Year!!! I wish you happiness and success this year, and health and love and all good stuff.
Here's things I'll do this year:
1) Take down the christmas tree
2) Live in Japan, see where I was born
3) Run another marathon
Hmmm well I haven't finished my morning coffee so I'm not thinking very clearly yet. There should definitely be more than three things to do this year I hope, especially when one of them is take down the tree. I will be happy to accept suggestions.

Small towns

Went to the post office today for a new passport and presented the clerk with my old one as proof of ID. She noticed the photo, taken when I was ten, and immediately stopped talking and put her hand over her mouth to control the giggles.
"Oh... you were..."
"Yes," I said, looking around to see who in line was aware of the developing spectacle.
She was still frozen in place, hand over mouth, now making baby noises at my photo. The clerk from the window next door says,
"I've got to see this," and she goes over into my clerk's area and ogles my picture.
"Awwwwww? You were so cute!"
I didn't know what to say so I go, "What happened to me?"
It was fun. So small-town. Nobody was in any hurry and everyone was super friendly and helpful (and knowledgeable) and when I left I didn't have a feeling of thank-god-that's-over like at the DMV, even though they openly laughed at me.

Doogie

My brother was on TV last Monday, I didn't know but I caught it in my DVR. I was watching it not expecting anything, and Doogie Howser and the other guy were in the bar and they were trying to be tough and they said to the girls, "No one sits its our seats. No one." Then the camera cut to their booth and my brother was sitting there. Pretty funny.

Guess I'll make breakfast now. I'm thinking coffee and waffles and canadian bacon, I like when the syrup gets on the bacon.

Party

I have to go to my work Christmas party tonight, the punishment for not going is you have to work tomorrow. Roads are icy. The forecast this morning was "ice pellets." That's a new one for me, I've seen sleet and hail and freezing rain, but never ice pellets. Gotta get into my suit now so I look good tonight even though I'd rather stay home.

I had trouble with the garlands

I am really experiencing the Maine winter cold now, BRRR it's ridiculous! My car sits thirty feet outside my front door, and when I walked out this morning I thought I wasn't going to make it. The ground was covered in ice so that I had to walk slow, and the wind came through my clothes and I tightened up into a ball and my eyes froze shut and my face was stuck in a grimmace and I tried to cry out but the howling winds drowned my cries away.
At work they said it was seven degrees, but with the wind chill I think it was more like minus ninety seven. I said, "hey it's pretty cold" and they said "man you haven't seen it yet, get ready."
There's no light pollution here, I can see the stars at night. I never knew the constellations or the names of the stars until now.(I know some of them.) Beautiful.

Haircut day

Snowing again! I'm in a better mood about it this time for some reason, I guess it's all about acceptance. Also I've had christmas music playing and all my shopping is done so I'm relaxed about that and now I can just appreciate the beauty of the snow. Still, I need to buy a new car for this crap. It's laundry time!

It's not road rage if you're right

I am not a hundred percent positive but I think I detect a nasty attitude coming from your direction. First of all, I thought I was being very sneaky to go to the car wash at night, who in the world washes their car in the dark when you can't even see how it looks. BTW it looks awesome.
I have two complaints to register:
1) I bought a ten dollar tin of popcorn from the boy scouts a while back because I thought it was the right thing to do, you know, help out a little boy and return the favor from when I was a kid and I had to do that crap. I am not complaining that the ten dollar popcorn only has about twenty five pieces of popcorn in it. That is okay with me. My problem is that I am now suspiciously receiving popcorn catalogs in the mail which are addressed to me, not current resident. This could be a coincidence, or the little shit gave my name out and now this address will receive popcorn catalogs with my name on them long after I'm dead and gone.
2) Mainers do not know how to merge.
Correct traffic merging procedure:
a) Accelerate up the ramp,
b) Turn signal on,
c) Check to see that it is clear, and then merge left.
Mainer style:
a) Drive very slowly up the ramp, at least 30 mph slower than the flow of traffic.
b) Do not signal or check your mirrors at all or even glance over into the next lane.
c) Stay in the merging lane all the way to the end, until it forces you into traffic because there is no more road left there.
That is how every Mainer does it.
I'm moving to Japan in six months.
Last night I had to go out because someone needed a ride to the hospital, and I got behind some jackass who was driving too slow on the highway and it was that situation where you can't pass him yet because the guy behind you pulls out and goes for the pass before you get a chance. I wasn't having it. I pulled out too and got in front of that guy, accelerating quickly and not causing him any trouble, he didn't have to touch his brakes and he was a safe distance behind me. Anyway the fuckin guy brighted me as if I was the dick, when really he should have waited and showed the courtesy to allow me the first chance to pass. As soon as he brighted me I stepped hard on my brakes, hard enough to lift the tail of my car up and scare the bastard. He backed way off and pulled back into the slow lane. Victory. My car says, "do not fuck with me, and if in doubt, I go first." He should have known better.
I want to add an item to my christmas list: A big thermos, big enough to hold a pot of coffee.

My Starbucks cup says Do Something Good Every Day

Wow I suck at Christmas shopping, it is obvious by the way I have been at it for hours today and now I am home again with no presents. I bought a coffee from Starbucks (holiday cups) and I had my picture taken by a college student who asked what was the manliest thing I've ever done. My answer was totally lame.
Oh I went to the bank this morning to cash in my change, they have one of those machines that deposits straight into your account. I've been saving my change for two years and there's about two thousand dollar's worth now(!) but I only deposited about four hundred because it was so embarrassing. It was a huge ruckus! The bank was quiet and still like a library and here I go dumping humongous buckets of change into the machine and it is whirring away and everyone turns and looks at me and I go, "Sorry!" and the one girl in line goes, "Wow how much change do you have?" and I said, "I don't know but I'm leaving!"
I wish I had a better answer for the manly thing, that is a hard question from a stranger who has your photo. I said I treat women right.

Thanksgiving 08

Today I made the discovery that I've been spelling "dilemma" wrong all my life. I was definitely taught in school to spell it "dilemna" and I have seen in spelled that way in books and newspapers. How do you spell mortified. I called my mom and dad and they both spelled it correctly, they laughed at me and said I didn't get it from them.
I'm just going to watch cartoons, I think Charlie Brown is on.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Cadillac for Christmas

I bought a new scented candle, Christmas Wreath flavor. For twenty bucks I think it should smell more. It's just a very subtle scent, I wanted Christmas explosion.
I'm disproportionately tired. I've been working hard, but not so much that I feel like I need to be worn out and ready for bed at 7:30, which I do. It's the dark and the cold I think, and no sun. Dark on the way to work, dark again on the way home, what kind of sick garbage is this?
I've got my eye on a Cadillac for the winter, I'll take it to the mechanic on Wednesday I think, or maybe Saturday if I feel overwhelmed by Thanksgiving stuff. I'm going to be sad to drive anything but my Mustang, though. I love that car. I love it a lot.

Morning Joe F Bomb

I have to post this one because this is my show, I love this guy and Mika too. Joe dropped the F bomb yesterday morning and Mika tried to cover it up, the best part is Mike Barnicle's stunned reaction, and Scarborough completely unaware that he said anything inappropriate. Ummm... honey?

In this morning's show he made very good points about Veteran's Day not being mentioned in any of the papers but there are no youtubes of that. You have to get the podcast like I do. ZeitGeist is also good.

Veterans Day, Happy

I tried to make biscuits and gravy for breakfast yesterday but everything didn't turn out just right so I had a do-over this morning and it was Out-Of-Control-Delicious!! I topped the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and a fried egg and I put some delicious Sriracha chili sauce on top, it was the best thing I've ever made except for maybe the Kiflici last Christmas.
I'm going to buy a tree this year.
I started my car shopping today. I had the idea to look at short term leases instead of buying cheap, a great idea but it won't work because the shortest leases are two years, I need six months. The Ford people said they could get me a one-year lease but it would be expensive, so I'm back to buying cheap. I want something maintenance-free and reliable for the winter, so I'm thinking of buying in the 6k range and then trying to sell it next spring, get some of my money back. I guess that will be my plan unless I do find a real cheap but decent beater which I can just throw away when the snow is gone.
Time to start Christmas shopping this week too, I'll be going after work this week because I don't want to deal with it on weekends. I need my me-time.
I notice I'm using a lot of hyphenated words today.
I have candy.
