Melted ice cream
I went to Blockbuster to make a second attempt on Into The Wild, still unavailable. Picked up cookies and ice cream at the store next door then headed home. The parking lot lets out onto a four lane highway, across which is (do not laugh at my surroundings please) a trailer park. My light turned green but I did not go because the little two or three year old boy was running across the intersection alone. Thank god I had the green, not the highway traffic. I waited until he got to me, then I u-turned my car back around him, talking to him through my driver's window and trying to make sure he didn't run back into the highway and calling 911 all at the same time. I got out of the car but I didn't want to grab the kid so I was relieved that a woman came came running up to handle the child. She left her car in the middle of the highway and traffic was blocked, but the emergency units were already on their way and the child was safely out of the road so with her permission I moved the woman's car. Her purse was laying there on the floorboard, I had to move it out of the way to drive. Someone else might have turned that into a bad situation for the woman that's the way this world works, so I was glad it was me. I parked her car at the side of the road and the boy's family came running out of the trailer park, crying. I got back in my car and drove off, I was totally the mysterious stranger who saved the day and then disappeared. It felt awesome.
